Erosion and Sediment Control
Red Sand Ecology was engaged to prepare and implement an Erosion and Sediment Control Plan (ESCP) for construction of a 40MW renewable energy facility in Yarranlea, Queensland. Ongoing environmental management and ESCP review by CPESC qualified staff ensured measures were adapted to suit site conditions and construction sequencing, meeting project and compliance objectives.
Ecological Services
While undertaking an ecological assessment in the initial stages of development, the team identified the Endangered Condamine Earless Dragon (Tympanocryptis condaminensis) within the project area, a newly described species that was believed to be locally extinct in the area until 2001. A specialised management plan was developed and monitoring has confirmed that preservation of habitat features and land use change from historic cropping practices continues to support a dragon population within the solar farm site.
Landscape Architecture and Design
Red Sand Ecology were involved in the establishment of a vegetation buffer surrounding the solar farm from concept to delivery. A mix of endemic native species were planted and maintained by our experienced landscape architecture team to meet the desired visual and environmental values of the client and local government. Tree species were selected to enhance the regional landscape and to support resident koalas often sighted in the area. Ongoing management will see the native vegetation buffer establish as important habitat in an agriculturally-dominated landscape.
